Which Yoga Is Right For Me?

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

It might be easy for me to say, but try not to get too caught up with all the different names for yoga that are out there, like Ashtanga, Iyengar, Vinyasa for example. Think about what you want from yoga practice, what do you want to gift to your experience of life by trying some yoga? Thinking about what you want could help you discover what kind of class is right for you. A Hatha yoga class is often a good place to start as a beginner, but do try a couple of classes for beginners in different styles.

The intention of Yoga comes from its Sanskrit meaning which is union. Union of body, mind and soul allowing us to feel more at home with ourselves and that we are enough just the way we are. Yoga can help us to feel more compassionate to ourselves and others. Try a few types of classes at a studio and see how you feel after the class, if you feel good then go back to that class another time, if you don’t, don’t go back. When you find a class that resonates with you, you might have found the right type of yoga for you.
